Twila Albrecht Participates in Goshen College Service Inquiry Program

2014 Jun 9

Twila Albrecht, a senior journalism and sociology double major from Goshen, will serve at Foods Resource Bank in Western Springs, Illinois, as part of Goshen College's summer-long Service Inquiry Program (SIP). Foods Resource Bank raises money and resources to support sustainable agricultural initiatives in developing countries. They organize volunteers to raise money for overseas programs with the hope of closing the gap on world hunger by increasing food security. Albrecht will be writing and editing for the blog and other publications, attending the annual meeting in August and traveling to D.C. as an advocate for smallholder agriculture. She is looking forward to meeting new people and growing connections in a new community. Albrecht is the daughter of Tom and Dee Albrecht, and attends Berkey Avenue Mennonite Fellowship.

Goshen College's Service Inquiry Program gives students the opportunity to spend three months in a service agency with the goal of exploring the intersection of faith and vocation, while also developing skills for leadership. These goals are achieved through active participation, observation of others, intentional reflection and the tutelage of an on-site supervising mentor.
